Individual & Couples Therapy 

Dr. Kate Wilsey specializes in treating trauma and complex trauma, including PTSD and CPTSD, using evidence-based psychotherapies such as:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR),

  • Prolonged Exposure for PTSD (PE-PTSD),

  • DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE),

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT),

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and,

  • Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).

These therapies are all delivered via HIPAA-compliant, secure video telehealth, so you can heal from the comfort of your favorite chair (bonus points if there’s a pet involved).


In addition to trauma work, Dr. Kate also helps individuals and couples navigate:

  • relationship challenges,

  • ADHD,

  • depression,

  • anxiety, and,

  • life transitions (e.g., divorce, retirement, returning from military deployment, gender transition, etc.).


Dr. Kate predominantly works with LGBTQIA+ and Gender-Diverse individuals as they navigate the beautifully complex intersections of their identities, including gender identity and expression.

Specializing in Trauma Therapies

PTSD

Dr. Kate provides Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). These therapies help people process their experiences, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and find relief from the emotional and physical toll of trauma. Dr. Kate trained for 7 years in trauma evidence-based psychotherapies under licensed psychologist supervisors.

Complex Trauma

Dr. Kate is passionate about working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, dissociation, and/or suicidal thoughts. Many of the clients who work with Dr. Kate have endured trauma that impacts their self-esteem, relationships, and emotional well-being. Together, you and Dr. Kate can create a space to explore these challenges, foster resilience, and build lasting hope.

Populations

Dr. Kate has a passion for working with individuals and couples who are Veterans, identify as neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and/or are part of BIPOC communities, offering an inclusive, affirming, and practical approach rooted in cultural humility. Dr. Kate dedicates hours of training each year to stay up-to-date on the latest research pertaining to these populations. 

Couples Therapy

Dr. Kate works with couples seeking to improve their communication, connection, and trust. Dr. Kate uses evidence-based psychotherapy, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT), with Gottman-informed interventions.

EMDR

Dr. Kate is especially passionate about using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help individuals heal from trauma. EMDR can improve sleep, energy, emotion regulation, and anxiety while reducing trauma-related symptoms, enhancing overall quality of life. Evidence-based

Many adults experiencing chronic anxiety, burnout, or trauma-related symptoms benefit from structured, research-supported treatment. Dr. Kate uses EMDR, CPT, and DBT-informed skills, among others, to address underlying patterns and promote sustainable emotion regulation. The focus is on measurable progress and clinically-grounded care.

About Dr. Wilsey

Dr. Kate Wilsey is a licensed clinical psychologist with:

  • over 11 years of clinical practice,

  • 7 years of individual and group therapy under supervision by licensed psychologists, and,

  • 9 years of education in psychology and clinical psychology.

The majority of Dr. Kate's training was spent in various VA Hospitals, working with Veterans with PTSD and trauma.
